Mauritius, once called the Isle of France, is a western south island of the Indian Ocean sheltered within the Mascarene Archipelago, between the island of La Réunion (on the west) and the Island Rodrigues (on the east). After having obtained its independence in 1968, the Mauritius Island, with the Rodrigues Island, got to form a Republic on the 12th of March 1992 named the Republic of Mauritius and represents 91% of its territory. On this island is gathered the majority of the population (1,2M), and it also holds the capital city called Port Louis.
